I have always wanted to call myself an Award Winning photographer. Well the time has finally come and I am proud to have been awarded the title of “Cotswold Photographer of the Year” by the British Institute of Professional Photographers. I will be blogging my winnings in due course but am very honoured and shocked to be awarded such a title. I am not one to brag, promote or even advertise my work but this is something I might have to do.
Anyway enough about me. I have been prompted to blog about this lovely family in my favourite neighbourhood of Northcote Road Battersea. I went visit Jen at her home when she was expecting baby girl number three. Having three girls myself I could have total empathy. It’s funny but people often assume that you are hankering for a boy but I have always been happy and blessed with three girls and happily so was Jen.
There is something quite delightful about photographing a family that is expanding as they get more relaxed and chilled with life as their family grows. I always think a family needs a dog to complete the chaos. However in this case Bolshy the dog was the first baby and am delighted that he is a much part of the family as the kids! They were so relaxed that Stella the newborn baby was allowed to snuggle with him. I love it as it’s such a special relationship that is a natural part of childhood. The other bonus to third child is that the older siblings get a real baby doll to play with. Fabulous fun! Until of course baby Stella reaches the age of 2 and can hold her own. Then the she might develop her own ideas and not want to conform. Until then enjoy the calm.
I am delighted to be going back to photograph the family and document their changes. Lets see if we can make it to the park this time now I am an award winning photographer! Sorry I just like saying it!

I am proud to say that being a newborn, bump photographer is fast becoming my speciality. The older I get the easier it seems to be for me. I love to calm the newborn babes and make the mothers feel comfortable, whether its their first, second or fifth baby! I love to capture the curiosity or sometimes indifference with the siblings. Kids can be quite honest about their feelings towards their new brother or sister. It doesn’t always go the way you expect.
Bobby is a dream older brother. Very affectionate and was happy to hold, love and kiss his new sister Nelly. He will be the proud big brother looking after his sister when she’s older. This is my third or fourth time of photographing Amy and Bobby. I was delighted when Amy asked me to capture some photos of her bump, as I knew that she was blooming in her pregnancy. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea to have their bump photographed but I think there is nothing more beautiful than a blooming, pregnant woman. Amy certainly fits this category. It’s such an amazing thing that happens to your body and should be celebrated! I like to make my clients feel relaxed and comfortable and take the time to appreciate their body and enjoy the calm before the storm!
I love the family shot of all the family looking down at Nelly. This was towards the end of the shoot and Bobby was starting to get restless. He loved the camera to be on him and was starting to feel that he wasn’t the main spotlight. However he loved to look at himself in the big mirror behind me. I let him enjoy his own reflection in the mirror and then when he was ready he looked down at just the right moment.

Here’s another little video of what I’ve be up to this year. I’ve been too busy to blog.. so thought I would condense it all onto a video! I’ve met some amazing people, each with a different story to tell. Can’t believe the year has whizzed by and I’m already putting up the Christmas tree! Don’t forget that vouchers are available for Christmas, a personal timeless gift. In the meantime, enjoy what I’ve been up to. So this is a first for me….taking the time to reflect on my last years work as a children’s family photographer. I think it’s a great thing to do. Not just to show my past and future clients what I have been up to during the year but for myself. To remind myself of what a privilege it is to be asked to photograph families, newborns and relationships. For them to let me into their lives and share their milestones. Or simply to capture the simplicity of their day.
Although I have photographed many families last year I have not been able to include everyone. For this I do apologise! As you can imagine I have many more favourites and have found it hard to whittle it down to a mere 90 photos! Please take the time to sit back and enjoy my little slideshow. If you would like to know more about my relaxed style of photographing friends and families then send me an email with your details and I will be happy to discuss your needs. Just here! I am looking forward to what 2015 has to bring.
This was a delightful maternity and newborn photography session from a delightful couple. They are temporarily living in the UK and have embraced Cheltenham and all it has to offer. They are on an exciting journey and I feel honoured to be asked to capture their precious moments. Having your first baby is very exciting but when you are so far away from friends and family it can be a little more daunting. Fortunately, baby Christopher arrived with out a fuss and they were blessed with a very calm, chilled out baby. For me, as a newborn photographer this makes my job a little easier. Although some babies just demand a little more cuddling and gentle rocking to calm them into place. This is why my newborn photography sessions can take a little longer than you think. However, baby Christopher was happy to be passed around, dressed or undressed. Fortunately, Brienne has a lovely collection of blankets that I enjoyed using. I love the shot of the cat in the background just wondering if the baby is here to stay? If you are interested in a similar family and baby photography session then please contact me here.
I went to meet Laura at home for her maternity photography shoot. This was number number 3, so Laura already knew the ropes! Hannah and Finlay were very excited about the arrival of their sibling and were even more excited when baby Cameron made his appearance. We had fun looking for names and choosing their favourites. I love this first shot as is captures the bond between Laura and Finlay. It shows Finlay’s tender, sensitive side and his gorgeous olive skin. Lucky boy! So then there were 3 and I went back to meet Cameron a few weeks after he was born. We soon realised that time was rushing by and Cameron wasn’t going to stay small for long. It is a very small window to capture the newborn baby photos (about 2 or 3 weeks old). Cameron is a chilled out dude who is happy to be adored by all. A pleasure to photograph. Having a baby is always an amazing experience and a precious time in your life. Whether it is your first, second, third , or tenth! Everyone’s experiences are unique and as a maternity and newborn photographer I am honoured to have a fleeting moment in your journey to share your precious feelings. I was delighted to be asked to photograph this client as she has made choices that I admire and respect. Sometimes in life we have to seize the moment……carpe diem! Here are some of my photos from this bump and baby photography session in Cheltenham and Gloucester. Hope you are both doing well and have settled into the routine of motherhood. If you are interested in capturing your maternity and newborn photography then please contact me here. Enjoy….
Newborn baby photography is definitely where I am in my element. When I am asked to photograph the bump before…….even better. I love the anticipation when pregnant and sharing that with my customers is very special. I went to meet baby Florence at home when she was just 10 days old. She behaved beautifully for her first baby photo shoot . Lots of cuddles…and that was just with me! Infact I didn’t really want to put her down! Even though I photograph babies on a regular basis it still amazes me how little and fragile they are. Florence was happy to be wrapped in blankets and left on the sofa whilst we all admired her. It is an honour to capture these special moments from wrinkly toes to sleepy yawns and milky smiles.
Caroline is just about to pop and fortunately I got to her before she does. Its so easy to forget how big you actually get when carrying your beautiful bump. Quite often not feeling all that beautiful! But the female body is amazing and I love these shots celebrating just how wonderful pregnancy can be. Caroline was up for anything and we found a spare bit of curtain and did some spontaneous wrapping. I am looking foward to meeting your baby very soon. Enjoy the calm before the storm!!
Oh to look this beautiful when you are just about to give birth. I am so delighted with these photos. It was a treat to work with Millie as she was just glowing and gorgeous. I never looked like this when I was pregnant. I am so pleased we managed to capture the beauty of being pregnant. I am so looking forward to the next stage!!
